Youko Yamamoto, a peace activist and founder of the Bon-Odori Dance Festival for Peace (https://www.bonodori.org/home) in Kingston, New York, will speak about her work for peace and raising awareness about the dangers of nuclear weapons. She will speak, in particular, about the founding of the Dance Festival, which is based on a Japanese Buddhist tradition of community ancestral remembrance to spread the message of peace, and also includes a ceremony to send prayers to all victims of nuclear disasters, from bombings to nuclear accidents.
