Did you know that the U.S. military is the world’s single largest institutional consumer of fossil fuels? And that it is also the single largest institutional emitter of greenhouse gases? The military’s contribution to the climate crisis is often overlooked in discussions about the current climate emergency. See how these two existential threats are related from the Veterans For Peace’s unique perspective. We are building support to cut the Pentagon’s budget and redirect resources to address a certain and immediate threat to our security––climate change.

The speaker will be Jim Janko, a member of the Climate Crisis & Militarism Project of Veterans For Peace. Jim was an infantry medic in the Vietnam War in 1970. He studied ecology at UC Berkeley and received a B.S. in Conservation of Natural Resources. Janko’s short stories and novels have won numerous awards. https://www.veteransforpeace.org/take-action/climatecrisis
