Passaic Valley Sewage Commission board meeting

Please join Empower NJ and the Ironbound Community Corporation on Thursday, May 13that 12:00 PM at the PVSC board meeting for a public speak out to demand they stop this project?

Just like the NJ Transit fracked gas power plant, this project is supposed to build resiliency in the event of another disaster like Superstorm Sandy. Sandy caused the sewage plant to lose power for several weeks while the grid was down. But we cannot allow PVSC to continue to perpetuate NJ’s legacy of environmental racism by building yet another major source of pollution in this environmental justice community with taxpayer funded FEMA dollars. Newark residents already suffer from toxic air pollution and particulate matter from the nearby port, highways, airport, Covanta Incinerator, Newark Energy Center fracked gas power plant and more. And just like NJ Transit, PVSC can use renewable energy to achieve their resiliency goals.

Governor Murphy must keep his climate commitments and his promises to Environmental Justice communities like the Ironbound. He has the authority to stop this disastrous proposal and order PVSC to redesign it with clean renewables.

Please sign the petition and join us on Thursday at 12:00 to call on the PVSC Commissioners to stop this project.
