Urgent Fukushima Alert February 25, 2014

The nuclear power plant at Fukushima, Japan was badly damaged during the earthquake of 2011 and its condition is a potential threat to the health and safety of the world, especially if there is another earthquake. Please take the following actions to help protect the lives, health and safety of everyone on the planet:

STEP ONE: Sign the two petitions below. Please ignore any deadline dates on these petitions — they are still active.

PetitionTo tell the United Nations and the Japanese Government that the crisis at Fukushima is a global threat that requires an international intervention

PetitionTo urge the United Nations General Assembly to pass a Resolution, to declare that Fukushima constitutes a global emergency, and to appoint an international group of independent experts to assess, plan, gather resources, and implement remedies, working with Japan.

STEP TWO: Contact President Obama, your two senators and representative and ask them to:

  1. Conduct a thorough investigation of the potential damage to West Coast states, the Pacific ecosystem and the potential danger of another disaster.
  2. Urge the United Nations General Assembly to pass a Resolution, to declare that Fukushima constitutes a global emergency, and to appoint an international group of independent experts to assess, plan, gather resources, and implement remedies and to work with Japan, residents, environmental groups, associations of retired engineers and the international community to develop a solution that is satisfactory to all.
